Lisa, a pharmacist, collides with soccer player Giorgi in the middle of the street. Bang, it’s love! The two young people make plans to meet up again the next day. Alas, their assignation is subject to an uncanny curse that will turn things sideways. Rendered unrecognizable through altered appearances, they will seek and (maybe!) find each other, wandering through the torpid summer . . . An ambitious fable that’s full of twists, this second feature from Alexandre Koberidze richly attests to his penchant for delightfully unorthodox, non-linear storytelling and graceful tonal transitions. A modern fairy tale whose fragmented, magic-realist narrative lovingly dovetails with the history of the ancient Georgian town of Kutaisi and its inhabitants. – Text written for Festival du nouveau cinéma (FNC)
