The August Virgin

With its light touch that follows the sentimental wandering of a young female protagonist, The August Virgin evokes the intimacy of Éric Rohmer’s “A Summer’s Tale”. Stripped of artificiality, La virgen de agosto (The August Virgin) inspires a desire to abandon everything and run off to Madrid to enjoy the last whispers of the summer season. Our young protagonist, Eva, follows that desire. During the first two weeks of August, while many other Madrid residents escape the heat, Eva sublets an apartment in her home city where she plans to live life to the fullest by seizing every possible opportunity to learn more about herself.
