Rob (Nicolas Cage) leads a quiet and secluded life in an isolated corner of the Oregon forest with his truffle pig. His closed-off world is turned upside down when a gang of thieves infiltrates his home to steal the animal. Accompanied by the son of a longtime friend, the hermit has no choice but to confront his past and return to Portland to unravel the mystery and reunite with his faithful companion. Captivating and elegiac, Michael Sarnoski’s feature debut skilfully twists revenge film conventions (as well as audiences’ expectations) by offering a unique and deeply melancholy reflection on love and mourning.
