Les Olympiades, a Corbusian residential complex in Paris’s 13th arrondissement, is the backdrop for the emotional entanglements of a group of thirtysomethings. Émilie, Camille, Nora and Amber, friends and sometimes lovers, leave all categories, rules and taboos by the wayside as they redefine modern love. Director Jacques Audiard (A Prophet) hired the talented Céline Sciamma and Léa Mysius (Ava, Louve d’or FNC 2017) to help him adapt Adrian Tomine’s graphic novel series Killing and Dying to the big screen. Shot in gorgeously grainy black and white, it’s a compelling, lucid and sensual look at passion, intimacy and disillusionment. – Text written for Festival du nouveau cinéma (FNC)
