Just days before the premiere of her new documentary play, Rachel finds herself at the center of a wave of controversy following the unveiling of the show’s poster. Her intentions and methods are called into question on grounds of cultural appropriation, even though the lived experiences of the Black community lie at the heart of her work. The media storm eventually begins to shake the director’s personal life and her relationship with Idris, her partner, an actor and activist. Urgent and deeply relevant, this fiction feature debut by Ayana O’Shun explores the intersection of politics and intimacy.
