Screening on October 3, followed by a discussion of the film with Claudia Polledri, researcher at the Cinémédias laboratory at the University of Montreal.
After his family is killed in a bombing during the Iran-Iraq war of the 1980s, young Bashu flees southern Iran alone and arrives in a remote northern village. Unable to speak the local language and shunned as a little stranger, he is taken in by Naii, a mother of two whose husband is away. The two form an indelible bond as they must face new challenges from Naii’s tight-knit community.
