CINEMANIA: Goal : Striking Congo

In Goma, retired professional soccer player Ugo Kasuku rekindles his passion for the game by founding a soccer academy. By launching the Future Pro League and attracting international scouts, Ugo offers young Congolese players an unprecedented opportunity and restores hope to a nation scarred by war. In this lively and uplifting documentary, director Mathieu Roy (The Dispossessed) follows the demanding journey of the former athlete and several young players as they pursue their dreams. More than just a film about soccer, Marquer le Congo is a powerful testament to the sport’s ability to bring communities together and unite people, as well as its potential to change lives for the better.
