The SATELLITES Festival, presented by PUBLICS & CIE in partnership with the COMETT FILM FESTIVAL, is Montreal’s first festival dedicated to digital works: short films, immersive works, podcasts, and multidisciplinary digital art. SATELLITES’ mission lies at the intersection of artistic presentation and digital culture. For its inaugural edition, the SATELLITES Festival presents a program dedicated to young audiences, featuring two programs of French-language short films.

 
Our Program #1 features fiction and documentary short films exploring themes of intergenerational immigration, our relationship with digital worlds, as well as a sensitive look at adolescence and our relationship with the body.

Using images extracted from the video game GTA V, this film portrays Martin’s contemporary loneliness. The young man wanders through the solitude of a dematerialized world, whose echoes reveal a very real contemporary melancholy.

Seventeen-year-old Jeanne is spending her final days of summer in the heat of late August. On the beach, Jeanne meets a young surfer. He is handsome, intriguing. Jeanne feels a new desire awakening within her.
