A contemporary Quebec short film + an exclusively restored international feature film + a discussion with an emerging filmmaker: this is the formula of L’image fantôme, a regular series conceived by critics and programmers Elijah Baron, Louis-Jean Decazes, and Matheo Pino.
Between contemplation and strangeness, this double feature brings together two documentaries that immerse viewers in the daily lives of protagonists living in isolation deep in the mountains. In these timeless spaces, a mystical communion unfolds between the inhabitants and their environment.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with filmmaker Ralitsa Doncheva.
BABA DANA TALKS TO THE WOLVES (Raltisa Doncheva, Quebec/Bulgaria, 11 minutes)
An impressionistic portrait of Baba Dana, an 85 year-old Bulgarian woman who has chosen to spend her life in the mountain, away from people and cities.
