“Vancouver, 1990. Eight-year-old Sasha, the youngest in a Hungarian-Canadian family, plays in the scorching summer sun with her two younger brothers. There’s her older half-brother, Jeremy—his golden hair and light eyes setting him apart from the rest of the clan—whose unpredictable behavior shifts from enchanting innocence to troubling absences and uncontrollable rage. Years later, Sasha, now a filmmaker, attempts to make sense of that summer and piece together her family’s wounded emotional landscape. In the spirit of Charlotte Wells (Aftersun, Louve d’or at FNC 2022), Sophy Romvari delivers a sensory reflection on mental health and the fragility of memory. A beautifully tender debut feature.”
