The Departing Images

Between ethnography and reverie, this film explores the dream spaces of a Mapuche family in Chile. Ana Edwards weaves a captivating visual narrative, blurring real and imaginary boundaries. It offers a unique glimpse into Mapuche cosmology, revealing how dreams shape relationships between humans and non-humans in their understanding of the world. Through a poetic and contemplative aesthetic, the film invites us to rethink our own conceptions of dreams and reality, opening perspectives on alternative modes of perception and interaction with our environment. Edwards’ work challenges Western notions of consciousness and interconnectedness.

Lichens Are The Way

In this observational film, at the crossroads of the contemplative and the scientific, filmmaker Ondřej Vavrečka and the two protagonists, scientist Trevor Goward and his partner Curtis Randal Björk, tell us about their attachment to lichen in all its forms. Lichen are a little-studied living organism resulting from a symbiosis between fungi and algae. A formally audacious film, Lichens Are the Way offers us an extraordinary cinematic experience and journey that invites us to question our relationship with the non-human world.
