After a childhood in Mali, Ali returns to France, where he is determined to shine. Despite his mother’s doubts, he becomes the new imam of the neighborhood, motivated by a modern and humanistic Islam. Highly respected, he decides to help the faithful achieve every Muslim’s dream: to make the pilgrimage to Mecca. Kim Chapiron (known for Sheitan) co-founded the Kourtrajmé collective with Ladj Ly, Romain Gavras, and Vincent Cassel, and he now presents his fifth film: a heartbreaking tragedy inspired by a true story.
