A businessman dies falling off a mountaintop. The lead detective in the case is amazed that the dead man’s wife doesn’t seem all that cut up, which to him makes her the prime suspect. Yet as the investigation goes along, he finds himself more and more fascinated by the attractive widow. Winner of the best director award at Cannes, this visually spectacular film from the director of OLD BOY and THE HANDMAIDEN pulls us into a murky detective story, a taut and sensual stylistic exercise whose convoluted plot falls into place like a jigsaw puzzle through cleverly orchestrated flashbacks.
